Steve obtained a degree in horticulture from Writtle Agricultural College in 1986 and set about learning how to grow things, only to discover at the outset that integral to his ability to do that was the availability of the right software and technology.

That realization was the catalyst for what has become a career-long immersion in writing code for the fresh produce industry. In the late 1980’s, Steve began to work for a grower’s co-operative as the system designer, writing environmental control software. He then went to work for Hedon Salads in the early 1990’s as group IT manager.

Steve joined Prophet plc in 1996 as the main system programmer for Pr2 and became a board director in 2000. Having built up a team of coders, he is responsible for all software development.
